Encephalitis results from brain inflammation and can be deadly. In many cases, the cause remains unknown and due to the enigmatic nature of the disease, physicians are not able to provide specific treatments.
At Johns Hopkins, we have established the first and only center in the country devoted to serving patients with encephalitis. Through the Johns Hopkins Encephalitis Center, we have brought together a committed interdisciplinary team of physicians and researchers to tackle this challenging disease. Over the past 8 years, we have utilized our expertise to evaluate and treat hundreds of patients with autoimmune and infectious encephalitis, and we are leading multiple efforts to develop new diagnostic tests, biomarkers of prognosis and outcome, and treatments to help our patients.
We are dedicated and passionate about our work but we need your support! Please consider a donation to support the Johns Hopkins Encephalitis Center.
