The Asper Award was established in honor of the vision of the late Samuel P. Asper, M.D. '40. A renowned Hopkins educator and physician, Dr. Asper understood the value of contributions made by medical students who were educated and trained at Johns Hopkins and returned to their home countries. The award is presented during the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Reunion & Alumni Weekend to a member of the Johns Hopkins Medical & Surgical Association who trained at Hopkins and returned to his/her home country to make a significant impact on the health and education of their fellow citizens.
